25th anniversary of Azerbaijan's partnership with UNICEF
A commemorative postage stamp dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the partnership of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) with the government of Azerbaijan has been issued.
The signing and sealing of the postage stamp took place with the participation of director of Azermerka LLC the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Leyla Gulaliyeva and the head of the UNICEF office in Azerbaijan Edward Karvardin.
Speaking at the ceremony, Edward Carvardin emphasized that due to the rapid socio-economic development of Azerbaijan, UNICEF remains committed to the ideology, which is that all children have the same opportunities, equal chances and equal respect for their rights.
It was noted that the silhouette of a child standing under an umbrella is reflected on the postage stamp. And the big hand extended to him characterizes the importance of care and protection for every child in the world. Special edition of postage stamps that issued in limited quantities can be purchased at branches and post offices, as well as Shebeke service centers.
Azerbaijan is one of the first countries in the world to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992. And the foundation of the first UNICEF program in the country was laid in 1993.
