History

One of the main activities of "Azerpost" LLC, which operates under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is the publication and circulation of State Postal Payment Marks (DPÖN) - postage stamps, stamped envelopes and postcards. In addition, "Azerpost" LLC produces blocks of stamps, small sheets of stamps, booklets, photocopies of postage stamps, and other products considered collectible objects of philatelists. Also, postcards, various souvenirs, etc.

The history of postage stamps of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan begins in 1919. In June of the same year, the government of the ADR adopted a decision to issue postage stamps and starting from October 20, the first stamps were put into circulation. From 1920 to 1923, stamps of the Transcaucasian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic were used on the territory of Azerbaijan, and from 1923 to 1992, stamps of the USSR were used.

The products released by "Azerpost" LLC reflect the rich history and culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the cultural and historical heritage of the people living in the territory of the country, the lives of prominent personalities, important events taking place in the country and in the international arena, and the colorful fauna and flora of our homeland. Special attention is paid to both the artistic design of products and the application of new technologies in the field of printing.

The Philatelic department of "Azerpost" is an active participant in both local and foreign exhibitions. Such events are extremely important in terms of the exchange of experience, promotion of Azerbaijani postage stamps in the world, and promotion of our country.

One of the leading activities of "Azerpost" is the development of Azerbaijani philately and its adaptation to modern requirements. In this regard, there is close cooperation between "Azerpost" LLC and the Union of Philatelists of Azerbaijan.
