"Azerpost" has applied an innovative approach in stamp issuance
Starting from 2023, alongside traditional stamps, Azerpost LLC has begun issuing stamps with QR codes. The QR code application allows users to access electronic resources related to specific topics for more comprehensive information, thereby ensuring a broader flow of information.
This practice was applied for the first time in Azerbaijan during the issuance of the “Heydar Aliyev 100 Years” postage stamp, dedicated to Heydar Aliyev as part of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev.” To facilitate the widespread dissemination of information about the National Leader, the QR code placed on the stamp links to English-language information about H. Aliyev on the official website www.president.az. Notably, the “Heydar Aliyev 100 Years” stamp was printed with a circulation of 300,000 by Germany’s Federal Printing Office (Bundesdruckerei).
Next, the QR code technology was applied to the “European Release” and “Vincent Van Gogh” postage stamps issued in 2023. The QR codes on these stamps direct users to the website https://stamps.azerpost.az/az, dedicated to Azerbaijani stamps.
Recognizing that even a small postage stamp can be an important information carrier, Azerpost plans to continue implementing this innovation in future stamp releases.
Additionally, interest in Azerbaijani postage stamps has increased in recent years. For the first time, since the beginning of this year, Azerbaijani stamps have been sold to international philatelists through WOPA+, a globally recognized stamp sales platform.
