A postage stamp issued to mark the 145th anniversary of our national press
On July 22, 2020, Azermarka LLC, which operates under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, issued a postage stamp to commemorate the 145th anniversary of our national press.
The stamp symbolically depicts a farmer sowing seeds in the field. An excerpt from the quote belonging to the prominent educator, publisher Hasan bey Zardabi is printed on the “plowed field”. It reads: The world is something that always revolves, and a person should change his/her behavior in view of the way the world turns, as they say: “Even if it is not the best of times for you, try to be in tune with them.” Nothing in this world always stays the same. Every sane person understands that times change, and we can't avoid the passing of time. Neither can we prevent time from changing. Those always trusting and listening to us make progress and move forward day by day as time goes on.”
The main idea of the stamp is to show that the seeds of the Azerbaijani national press were sown by genius Hasan bey 145 years ago.
The postage stamp designed by Azermarka’s chief artist Vugar Ayyubov was printed by the Bobruisk Integrated Printing House (Belarus) with a print run of 5008 copies. In addition, 200 First Day Covers have been issued.
