On February 1-2, a series of events were held in the capital city of Bern, Switzerland, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

During these significant events, postal operators from member countries of the UPU had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the history of postal services.

As part of the initiative by "Azerpost" LLC, a commemorative stamp prepared in honor of the UPU's 150th anniversary was sealed and issued on February 1st, with the participation of Masahiko Metoki, the Director General of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union, and Fuad Iskandarov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein. The only stamp sealed during this event was the Azerbaijani stamp.

Masahiko Metoki expressed deep gratitude to Azerbaijan for this initiative, noting that the aforementioned postage stamp is now also a part of the history of the UPU.

Guests were presented with souvenir booklets containing the stamps, and the opportunity to use the "First Day" postmark was provided.

Members of the Management Board of "Azerpost" LLC, Khayyam Alizadeh, and the Director of the Branding Department, Sitara Huseynova, also participated in the event.

It is worth noting that the Universal Postal Union, founded in 1874 with its headquarters in Bern, is the world's second-oldest international organization and serves as a key platform for cooperation among postal sector participants.
