It is important to remember that the history of philately in Azerbaijan dates back to the Soviet era. After the declaration of independence in Azerbaijan, philatelists operated as a club. Later, on December 29, 1998, the club was registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the "Azerbaijan Philatelists Union." In 2023, the Union was re-registered at the Ministry of Justice and obtained the status of "Public Association." Currently, the Union unites over 200 members.
